After completing his master's degree in Environment Engineering in 2019, Rafail worked for 2 years as Project Manager in the wastewater treatment sector. At the same time, he pursued a second master's in Resource Economics and Sustainable Development at the University of Bologna, focusing mainly on sustainability and energy related topics.

In early 2022, Rafail joined ACER's energy infrastructure team, initially as a trainee and then as an interim assistant. 

In September 2023, Rafail joined ENTSOG as Investment Advisor in the System Development team.
