ENTSOG's Workshop to develop Framework for Mid-Term Analysis of Security of Supply

Dear Stakeholder,

Please join us on 11 March 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00 CET, for ENTSOG’s presentation of a framework for undertaking a mid-term analysis of EU security of supply. The workshop will be in hybrid format (in-person and Teams) at the ENTSOG premises, located Avenue de Cortenbergh, 100 (ground floor) - 1000 Brussels.

The workshop will be followed with a networking reception, to exchange further on the topics discussed earlier with stakeholders!

Participating stakeholders are also invited to give feedback during the workshop, with the option to provide additional written input after the workshop exchanges.

At the 39th European Gas Regulatory Forum in Madrid in May 2025, ENTSOG presented a mid-term infrastructure assessment framework proposal. The Forum thereafter invited ENTSOG to further develop the concept, giving special attention to flexibility options and security of supply provided by gas infrastructure to the electricity system in the context of the energy transition and sector integration. The Forum also invited ENTSOG to present the developed framework at the next Forum meeting, which takes place in April 2026.

ENTSOG believe that the mid-term security of supply analysis would allow for more thorough investigation of adequacy between supply and demand in the context of gas grid and the actual status of the energy transition, covering a time span of  10 years. The analysis would also make it possible to address other situations that could be useful in the context of gas storage needs, reserves, demand aggregation, among other factors, and may supplement other assessments being undertaken by the electricity infrastructure operators.

More information on the current short and longer-term infrastructure adequacy analysis that is being undertaken by ENTSOG includes:

Following the presentations, participants will be invited to engage in an interactive Q&A session, and to provide written feedback after the workshop.
