After studying “Exploitation and valorisation of natural gas” at the University “Lucian Blaga” of Sibiu, Rares Mitrache started his career in 1996 at Romgaz (the unbundled Romanian National Gas Company at that time). After the unbundling process in 2000, Rares continued with the new established Romanian TSO, Transgaz.
Starting from 2006, he was particularly involved in project management of large pipeline projects such as the Nabucco project and the PCI project known as BRUA/BRHA (BG–RO-HU-AT Corridor). His main responsibilities were related to technical as well as environmental issues.
In December 2011, Rares joined the Nabucco National Company in Romania as Environmental Expert. After the closing of Nabucco project in 2013, Rares returned to Transgaz. As part of the International Cooperation Department, one of his tasks was representing Transgaz in the ENTSOG Investment Working Group.
Rares joined ENTSOG in August 2016 as part of the System Development Area.
